We take your privacy seriously. Ajo only collects the minimum data needed to run your savings groups. We never sell your data to third parties.

1. Who we are

Ajo is a mobile application for organising rotating savings groups (ajo, susu, esusu). This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information.

2. What data we collect

We collect the following information when you use Ajo:

Phone number — used to create your account and verify your identity via SMS
Name — displayed to your group members
Group activity — contributions, payouts and group membership data
Device information — device type and OS version for app performance

3. How we use your data

To create and manage your account
To display your information to group members you are connected with
To send SMS verification codes
To send push notifications about your groups (if enabled)
To improve the app and fix bugs

4. WhatsApp reminders

When you send a WhatsApp reminder to a group member, Ajo opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message. Ajo does not send WhatsApp messages on your behalf — you review and send manually. We do not store phone numbers of people you remind.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties except:

Group members — your name and payment status are visible to members of groups you belong to
SMS providers — your phone number is shared with our SMS provider solely to deliver verification codes
Legal requirements — if required by law

6. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely on servers in the European Union. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Access tokens are stored encrypted on your device using the operating system's secure storage.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Export your data

8. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Group history may be retained in anonymised form.

9. Children

Ajo is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via push notification or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
